Remember when you were younger and you hated eating any vegetable that was green? Remember someone would mention Brussel Sprouts and you would just cringe? Well, like many things in life, looks like some vegetables have evolved and elevated into something bigger and better.
HelloFresh is a staple in my household. I order five meal kits a week to cook, no need to meal prep, no need to grocery shop for ingredients. All in one bag, and just have to cook. The relaxation of cooking for me has been simplified and de-stressed. A working mom’s dream come true.
HelloFresh created Hot Honey Brussels and Lemon Ricotta Flatbreads with Parmesan and Italian cheeses. You heard me. Brussel Sprouts created for pizza like dinner. Add an air of elegance because of the lemon ricotta. Elevation and elegance all in one meal.
For HelloFresh, I always use the four portion because I cook for my husband and my son, plus the opportunity to cook for family members sometimes arises.
With this meal, I cooked this for my husband, myself, and my brother in law. We each had one flatbread. My husband and I split the fourth flatbread in half. We couldn’t leave this recipe as a leftover.
The ingredients I received for this recipe are:
16 ounces of Brussel Sprouts
1 tablespoon of Italian Seasoning
1 lemon
8 ounces of ricotta cheese
4 flatbreads
1 1/2 ounces of hot honey
1 cup Italian Cheese Blend
6 tablespoons parmesan cheese
I had to supply kosher salt, black pepper, cooking oil, and olive oil. I have changed since prior posts for right now, I do use the salt, pepper, and olive oil. However, I only use extra virgin olive oil. I do not use any other cooking oil just because of health reasons.
I use stainless steel pots and pans (check out my amazon store) and with alternatives, the cooking is just not the same and it messes with the consistencies of the pots and pans.
Farberware cookware and bakeware has been in my family for generations like I cook and bake 1964 recipes on Farberware. I can’t beat consistency.
The Hot Honey Brussel Sprout and Lemon Ricotta flatbreads are a perfect craving fix for pizza. Loaded with antioxidants and loaded with robust flavor.
Here’s how to bust out this dish:
Prep your Brussel Sprouts. Preheat your oven. Wash and dry your produce.
Cook Brussel Sprouts.
Mix the ricotta with lemon.
Toast the Flatbreads.
Bake the Flatbreads.
Finish and Serve.

I would rate this meal 9 out of 10 for prep. I got this meal prepped in 5 minutes and cooked in 20 minutes just like this recipe said. The overall process was quick and expedited. Perfect because I just wanted to go to bed early and just did not feel like cooking something extravagant or time consuming.
For taste, I give it 5 out of 10 for taste and more like aftertaste. Because of the spice of this meal, I got bad heartburn enough to the point where I had to puke. So let that be a forewarning if you are sensitive to spicy meals. Use a third to a half of the Szechuan paste. However, when I had it the first time, I did not have this issue. It was when I had leftovers. Just a piece of advice.
Shayne rates this meal a 5, just because of the noodles. It may have been better with a different type of noodle. In addition, he just felt like it was one of those one and done meals. Tried it, liked it, but doesn’t need to have it again.
I like the concept of this meal because it is a working mom’s type of meal. Quick. Expedient. Flavorful. Easy clean up. Whether it is someone’s fancy, just depends on heat and spiciness you can take.
