You know what I’m about to write about? Margaritas. Yes, those delightful, refreshing beverages that have become synonymous with good times and great company. We all know that margaritas are the best to enjoy when you are indulging in some delicious tacos, savoring juicy steak, munching on crispy nachos, or really, any kind of food to be honest. Their zesty flavor and icy texture make them the perfect companion for a wide array of culinary delights.
Well, actually, anything with meat pairs exceptionally well with a margarita. A salad, probably not so much, but let’s be honest—who really craves a salad when you have the option of a vibrant, tangy margarita? The combination of flavors in a margarita complements the savory notes of grilled meats, the spice of tacos, and the richness of nachos, creating a symphony of taste that dances on your palate. Margaritas have a unique ability to elevate a meal, transforming an ordinary dining experience into a festive occasion.
We also know that alcohol is what can make or break a party. It serves as a social icebreaker, helping to ease the tension and bring people together. The more flavors you have in your drink, the better the experience becomes. When legal and responsibly consumed, alcohol can turn an average gathering into a lively celebration. Whether you choose to be the socialite sipping on your favorite concoction or the one mixing and serving up the drinks, you will undoubtedly have something interesting to talk about after indulging in a few of these delicious margaritas.
Buying drinks is also a surefire way to gauge whether your bartender has taken a liking to you. It doesn’t matter if they are male, female, or nonbinary; the way they craft your drink can reveal a lot. In my past experiences, strong drinks and the occasional free drink often indicate that the bartender is either fascinated or intrigued by you. Nine out of ten times when ordering drinks, they come out exceptionally strong for me and my friends. You know what they say—pretty friends stick together, right?
It seems there’s a certain charm that comes with being in the company of friends who exude confidence and charisma.
Here are the ingredients you would need to become the socialite you need to be, ready to impress your guests with your margarita-making skills:
• 1/2 cup of sugar
• 1/2 cup of water
• 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lime juice
• 3 tablespoons of orange juice
• 1/4-1/2 cup of quality tequila
• Ice, preferably crushed or blended
• Coarse salt for rimming the glasses
• Fresh limes for garnish
Simple as simple syrup, right? It’s a straightforward recipe that yields a delightful drink that can be enjoyed on various occasions.
Our Ratings: I made Margaritas for Mother’s Day Brunch, and the experience was quite memorable. Shayne, my sister-in-law, and I decided to give these margaritas a try. I served them blended in frosty plastic cups, which added a nice touch to the presentation.
My Rating: 6 out of 10. I love lime, but the tanginess combined with the strength of the drink was a challenging combination for me. I either prefer tang or strength, not both blended together. Ha, punny! I also have not had a mixed drink since enjoying Sangria on Christmas. Honestly, I’m more of a shots type of girl, often opting for a chaser. Mixed drinks usually aren’t my first choice unless I’m going all out with the food as well. Typically, I gravitate towards original, non-franchise taquerias when I want something like that.
Shayne’s Rating: 9 out of 10. Shayne is a true lover of mixed drinks, and he knows a strong drink when he encounters one. The main reason why this margarita scored a 9 out of 10 for him is due to its strength. He could distinctly taste the tequila and the lime, which created a classic flavor profile that shone through perfectly. The orange juice and simple syrup were not overpoweringly sweet in comparison to the amount of lime and tequila used. The recipe was balanced out perfectly, making it a standout drink.
Chelsea’s Rating: 5 out of 10. Chelsea is not particularly fond of lime in general. While she did drink the margarita, she didn’t finish it as quickly as the rest of us. This was definitely the type of drink that requires food in your system to truly enjoy it. Otherwise, you might find yourself getting buzzed rather quickly. She found the drink to be just okay, not her favorite by any means.
Our Financials: Buying ingredients for these margaritas was relatively easy, and I purchased everything at Walmart and Publix. What makes this recipe even better is the fact that many of these ingredients can be reused for other food and drink recipes. Here’s a breakdown of the costs:
• Sugar - $1.98 from Publix
• Water - free from the tap
• Lime Juice - $3.88 from Walmart
• Orange juice - $3.84 from Walmart
• Tequila - $25.99 from Publix
• Ice - made from ice trays
• Coarse salt - I had my pink Himalayan salt already
The total cost to make the margaritas was $35.69. Of course, this is more expensive than some other recipes. However, whenever there is alcohol involved, that could be the case. Coming from a bar background, I can easily discern the difference between cheap and top-shelf alcohol. Generally, middle-shelf alcohol is the best way to go for a good balance of quality and price.
Using Fetch Rewards, one of my favorite applications, I earned 50 points, but that was because of other ingredients we bought for different recipes. A victory is a victory with this application. By simply scanning a receipt, you can earn 25 points. It doesn’t matter what the additional points are; the more points you accumulate, the more gift cards you can redeem for your selection. I have multiple goals for using these applications, and they help me work towards furnishing my future home.
I earned $3.00 cash back from Ibotta for this recipe, as well as for the majority of the other recipes I’ve made. There aren’t many fresh groceries that are featured on Ibotta, and this application is quite selective regarding how you can earn cash back. The good thing about it is that when it comes to alcohol and spirits, the options are extensive in terms of what you need to buy. Usually, substantial amounts are given back on alcohol purchases as well. The tequila I used was 1800 silver, and Ibotta had an offer of $3.00 cash back for that purchase.
When I walked into Walmart, I earned 10 kicks for simply entering the store. Shopkick typically does not have the products I shop for, but I still earn kicks by walking into the store. Unfortunately, I forgot to use that option when I went to Publix. A quick transition from brunette to blonde in terms of my shopping strategy!
Finally, Coinout earned me eighteen cents for scanning in my receipts from Walmart and Publix. Coinout is definitely an application where the returns can vary greatly depending on how much money you earn back. If you’re not pressed to earn a significant amount, then this application works quite well.
The Outcome: Since the invention of alcohol, we have embraced drinking as a social tradition. Whether you’re at a party, a gathering, or just enjoying a quiet evening with friends, drinking is often seen as a way to liven up the atmosphere or to ease through social interactions. However, when you’re bartending, it’s important to make yourself a strong drink because you deserve it. When you receive a drink from a bartender, remember to be courteous and kind, as this can ensure you get what you pay for. In either case, bartenders often make strong drinks to show their appreciation and to encourage you to come back for more.
