Tipping the Scales: A Journey of Self-Discovery

Anyway, let's rewind a bit. Back in my younger days, the scale didn't really bother me. I was carefree and didn't give much thought to the number staring back at me. But then, around the age of 17, things started to change.

Like many teenagers, I struggled with body image and the pressure to fit in. Middle school and freshman year of high school were particularly tough. I developed a bit of a stomach, and suddenly, I became hyper-aware of how I looked. But still, the scale wasn't my main concern.

Fast forward a bit, and I found myself using the scale as a measure of my beauty. I associated a specific number with feeling beautiful and sought validation through the attention of others, especially guys. It didn't help that my metabolism allowed me to enjoy various foods without gaining excessive weight.

However, life has a funny way of throwing curveballs. At 17, I went through a tough breakup and had to deal with attempts to tarnish my reputation. In the midst of it all, I turned to food as a source of comfort, which led to weight gain. Stepping on the scale became an anxiety-inducing experience filled with regret.

I felt out of control, like the number on the scale defined my worth. It was a constant battle to find balance and acceptance. From 18 to 23 years old, I had a love-hate relationship with that darn scale. But here's where things took a turn for the better.

I made a decision to prioritize my health and well-being. I wanted to break free from the shackles of the scale and focus on overall wellness. In this journey, I was fortunate to have the support of my incredible husband, who encouraged my fitness endeavors and lifestyle changes.

That's when I realized that my battle wasn't with the scale itself, but with improving my overall health. I began to understand the importance of finding balance in life, both physically and mentally. And let me tell you, it has made all the difference.

Now, I can proudly say that I don't regret a single step of this journey. I've learned invaluable lessons along the way. It's not about obsessing over that number on the scale, but about embracing a healthier lifestyle and mindset.

By focusing on my overall well-being, I've become happier, healthier, and more active. It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, pun intended! For a majority of my fitness journey, I have been staying away from my scale. I just feel that having that number constantly pressing on your mind is not a healthy way to go, unless you are required to go through it for training purposes.

So, my friend, remember this: you are so much more than a number on the scale. Embrace your journey, prioritize your health, and find that beautiful balance that makes you shine from within. You've got this!
